PAUL LEE makes art that deals with the language of objects. His work is made from a variety of carefully chosen materials that recall neo-Dada and pop art objects such as soda cans, light bulbs, worn towels, Xeroxes and tambourines. Earlier work was made from materials that carry information as currency, like celebrity photographs, FedEx boxes, envelopes and invitations to art events. Paul’s work deals with desire and the abstract quality of desire; the two different realities that exist in our core and the things outside of us that appear to control us against our will. His art makes apparent in both tangible and fleeting ways the implied interactivity between the different languages existing in the same object at the same time.

Paul Lee was born in Ilford in East London. He studied at St Martins School of Art and then Winchester School of Art. He was 'Artist in Residence' at the Chinati Foundation in Marfa, Texas in 2007 and has exhibited widely in the US and Europe.
