FP3 Gallery, in the Fort Point neighborhood, is pleased to present AQUATIC, an exhibition of the work of three photographers working with water as a source or subject.

LORA BRODY is an award-winning Boston and Provincetown-based photographer. She is well known for her ‘Pinhole’ photographs of swimmers for which she uses a Nikon SLR camera fitted with a pinhole cap to capture images of bodies moving through water. Other significant bodies of work include unique moments at both Provincetown's Herring Cove beach and The Boston Red Sox's Fenway Park. Her images are printed on premium quality archival paper with archival ink.

Ms. Brody has studied with Magnum photographers Constantine Manos and Alex Webb as well as with Amy Arbus, Karin Rosenthal, and Becky Webb. Her photos have appeared on the cover and in feature articles in The Boston Globe Sunday Magazine, and in The Cape Cod Times. Her baseball photographs hang in the corporate offices of The Boston Red Sox. She was the official photographer at the 2007 Red Sox Fantasy Camp in Fort Myers, Florida. Cape Cod Magazine, Woman's Day and Cooking Light have featured both her writing and her food and travel photos. As a photographic food stylist she has worked with, among others, National Geographic photographer Sisse Brimberg on a Geographic cover story about chocolate.

WILLIAM HAMLIN's work is recognizable by his unique method of weaving his photographs.  Hamlin started experimenting with different techniques while studying photography at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. An added interest in Cubism and its theories led him to a double major in art history. It was a combination of the two - the practical techniques of photography and the aesthetics of art he used together to create a series of collages in the style of David Hockney and a series of photographic extensions inspired by Lucas Samaras, which eventually led him to his own technique - the woven photograph. For this exhibition he presents a series of woven photographs of tiled swimming pools. Taken from above, these masterful images capture the texture of the water's surface, the light reflected in the pool's architecture and a meta view created by the pool's tiled interiors that when woven not only address the minimalist grid but also create a layer of visual information between the image's holographic depth and the space occupied by the viewer; a sort of a visual witness to looking. Hamlin has received numerous awards and exhibits throughout the Northeast. He lives and works in Provincetown.

THOM LUSSIER is a graduate of Massachusetts College of Art (BFA, Photography) and a Master's recipient from Yale University (MFA, photography). Lussier's work has been exhibited in major cities across the globe including: New York, Los Angeles, Paris, Berlin, Milan, and London. He resides in New York City and has been summering in Provincetown since 1995. Lussier has worked with a large format panorama camera for many years. This exhibition consists of a new set of images from the series titled, 'Underneath'.  Underneath is an exploration of the world underwater where landscapes and figures transcend their familiar appearance to become other worldly. The images are made with an underwater camera and are not digitally altered or enhanced in anyway. The prints are digital prints, printed on chiffon.  Using custom tailored technology to print on chiffon, these prints are suspended in shadow boxes in order to preserve the fluidity of the material. They are diaphanous and liquid.

About FP3 Gallery
The FP3 Gallery is located within the FP3 loft-style residential building and is a vital part of the award-winning collaboration between developer Young Park of Berkeley Investments, Boston architect David Hacin, and famed restaurateur Barbara Lynch.  When the group of buildings at 346 Congress Street was being transformed into the vibrant lifestyle destination you see today, maintaining the rich cultural history and artistic integrity of the Fort Point neighborhood was of paramount concern to Berkeley Investments, which owns the multiple-use building.  In addition to housing four live-work studios for working artists, FP3 features a stunning gallery that is dedicated to showcasing work by emerging artists, members of the Fort Point Arts Community (FPAC) and other artists from around New England.  FP3 is also home to Barbara Lynch’s Drink, Sportello and the “four-star” [Boston Globe] Menton, which are all distinctly perfect to visit before or after viewing the art that is on display in the gallery.
